One of the greatest things about living in Scottsdale is the great variety of food choices. The following is a short list of our favorite places to go in Scottsdale. If you have any other suggestions or comments, send us an email and we will post them also.
Bloom
8877 North Scottsdale Road (The Shops at Gainey Ranch)
Named one of the "Best New Restaurants of 2001" by Phoenix Magazine. The interior of Bloom is beautiful and crisp and they serve great food. They offer 75 to 100 wines by the glass daily.
Eddy V’s
Eddy V’s is in DC Ranch Market Street and was named the “Best Seafood Restaurant” in 2005 by Phoenix Magazine. The food and service are excellent and the whole experience is elegant.
Elements
Located in the sanctuary on Camelback Mountain, this restaurant is romantic especially if you sit at the tables facing the glass wall overlooking the beautiful desert surroundings and the resort. If you go to Elements, be sure to reserve a window seat for tremendous views.
Cowboy Ciao
In the heart of downtown Scottsdale, Cowboy Ciao offers a unique menu with fun atmosphere.
Patsy Grimaldis
Grimaldi’s offers yummy pizza and a great choice for families in the DC Ranch Market Street.
Morton’s
Morton’s is located in Kierland (and Phoenix on Camelback) and is one of the most upscale steakhouses in Phoenix. This is part of the large Morton’s chain so the food is consistent with the Morton’s name, and always superb. This is a local hangout for celebs (Charles Barkley even has a wine locker there).
Old Town Tortilla Factory
Old Town Tortilla Factory is always my first choice to go, when we have special guests in from out of town (especially from Europe and the East Coast). The food is superb, the patio dining is probably the BEST in Scottsdale, and for those tequila drinkers the menu is exhausting. They serve the best margarita in Scottsdale!
Flo’s
Flo’s has three restaurants to choose from and each one is different. Flo’s Hong Kong in DC Ranch Market Street is delicious and Flo’s Chinese Food on Frank Lloyd Wright is a favorite of the community. Some of the best dishes have not been on the menu, like the garlic halibut, so be sure to ask for any specials that day.
North
North is a northern Italian restaurant in Kierland Commoms. The food is good and service has been superb. If you are out shopping for the day or looking for a date night, North would be a great spot to stop and eat!
Zinc Bistro
Another favorite at Kierland and has excellent food. We like to sit on the courtyard patio during the cool months, it is lit up and reminds you of the little cobblestone restaurants in Italy (Yes, it is a French restaurant.) You can also sit along a bar or out on the front patio to people watch.
Ocean Club
An elegant seafood restaurant located at Kierland Commons. This is probably the best seafood restaurant in the Phoenix area, often offering live entertainment from the bar. Order the lobster mashed potatoes – you won’t be disappointed.
Sapporo
Sapporo on Scottsdale road is without a doubt our favorite sushi and tepan restaurant in Scottsdale. The food is always good, and the happy hour sushi menu in the restaurant is superb.
Tommy Bahama
A casual, tropical restaurant located in Kierland commons with a tropical island theme. This is a fun place to hang out with good food and ambience.
Ray’s Pizza
Ray’s Pizza on Frank Lloyd Wright and the 101 is our favorite pizza joint in Scottsdale. There is not a wide choice of toppings offered, and It can be a bit heavy, but the pizza is awesome.
Salt Cellar
This is probably the only restaurant in Scottsdale where you get to walk down into the cellar to eat. Ask any local residents for great seafood without the stuffy atmosphere and they will send you to Salt Cellar. Famous in Phoenix for lobster and fresh fish flown in daily.
San Felipe
San Felipe is a fun place to eat Mexican food and more fun to drink at when the sun goes down. It is in a great location in the DC Ranch Market Street.
Sauce
Sauce is a good restaurant offering a wide variety of specialty wood fired pizzas. If you are looking for that traditional cheese or pepperoni pizza, you might be a bit disappointed, but for exotic toppings (such as prosciutto and melon) you will enjoy this.
Olive and Ivy
This is one of the newest and trendiest restaurants in Scottsdale (or Phoenix for that area). Make sure you have a reservation, as it gets packed on weekends. The food was good, but the ambience was great. It is on the Scottsdale waterfront, so when the weather is nice it has a great patio and bar area for drinks and appetizers.
Malee’s
This is the only Thai food restaurant we put on our list of favorites. The food is great (especially the Thai Basil Chili Chicken and the Arizona Heat Wave). There are two locations, with the North Scottsdale location also having a sushi restaurant as well. The North Scottsdale location is better for kids, but our favorite is the downtown Scottsdale location.
